DAT’S RIGHT!! – for all you stargazers out there, tonight the moon will give us a spectacular event to behold…..For the first time in almost 20 years, the moon will be at its closest distance yet to the Earth! — no worries! ~ it’s still hundreds of thousands of miles away – but each year around this time….the moon reaches it’s Perigee on its orbit….which varies from year to year due to the natural ellipses of the orbits of the Earth and moon……Tonight will be a special treat indeed!!

check out the vid above as well the as an article from NASA – enjoy!!!!

tip: best time to fully experience the “supermoon” is during moonrise, when it is low on the horizon…..WOWZA!!!!

  1. Cool video, Yannaki! Thanks for sharing it! 🙂 My family and I have been awaiting this supermoon for several days now. Last night we had the pleasure of seeing it rise shrouded in a light cloud cover. It was very mystical! 🙂 The moon always reminds me of how small, yet not alone, we are in the Universe, especially when its full. This supermoon is, indeed, spectacular! I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy it! 🙂

I wish you all a night of special lunar memories! 🙂

  2. What a very special celestial event, Yannaki! ~ The sight of the moon is always special and mystical so tonight’s super moon must have been amazing – Here there were clouds in tonight’s night sky but I did notice the sky appeared a lot brighter than usual .. with a magical glow of unusual beauty! ~

  3. Thanks for the video Yannaki. ‘Super’ info! We were blessed here in Austin…no cloud cover Coralina, although a few wispy clouds did lightly pass over the moon several times. It was a great evening for a backyard picnic, cool & breezy and the moon’s rising was spectacular! Lit some sage and sweet grass for meditation with the moon and stars as my canopy. Enjoyed the moon’s splendor with and without the use of binoculars. Mia…hope you and family had a wonderous time viewing the ‘SuperMoon’.
Sending all of you beautiful SuperMoon blessings…sweet nite.
    Irma
