In an interview – Robert Redford caught my attention when he shared his thoughts on the policies that might have contribute to the oil spill in the gulf ~ He noted the role of Cheney and the oil companies putting together an energy policy behind closed doors .. which is still in place by the current administration ~ Redford calls for a new energy policy ~
So, I thought I would share some of his reflections here with D.E. and all .. for even if we agree or disagree with his insight .. he does encourage public concern from our global community to help find solutions to the current disaster and hopefully how to avoid future disasters~ Blessings ~ Coralina ~

Mr. Redford is correct: we all have to stop being apathetic to these disasters. The corporations and politicians count on you to be lazy. In fact, they’ve design a whole society to brainwash you to be lazy and disinterested. They’ve given you sports games to cheer over, beer to drink, reality TV to watch, and one thousand other things to keep you busy and distracted so that you don’t act or to see yourself as powerless. If you believe yourself to be powerless, then so shall you be. Wake up from your slumber and act, engage, fight! This is OUR world and THEY are destroying it.

When will we wake up? – and detach ourselves of this dirty and outdated source of energy we call “Oil” — Quoting from one of my fav vid games (Just Cause 2) – “It’s all about the damn oil!” ~ We have seen time and time again the carelessness, waste and neglicence over this resource that nations and politicians have been brainwashed into grabbing as much as possible – at all costs ~
Now is the time for new energy — FOR REAL! — no more deceitful “Greenwashing” of oil companies…the future of this planet is at stake here! ~
P.S. in da news – i heard’z dat a federal judge overturned Obama’s moratorium on offshore drilling the other day – not suprisingly…seems like the dude has ties w/ the oil companies! ~ (slappin’ forehead) ~

I am grateful, Divine Earth/Johannes, for your insightful observation of the numbing of our society that allows these corporations and politicians, judges, etc. to trash our planet for their own personal gain and agendas ~
In our culture, I agree that too many people are asleep or indifferent …and even for those who do care, I feel, think they are powerless in the shadow of such a tremendous crime against nature and our sacred waters ~ You bring awareness, hope and light, Johannes, that we should not feel helpless and join the fight to save our home, our planet ~
Also, thank you Yannaki for caring and yes I too heard about the judge that ruled against the oil drilling moratorium today ~
Even in the light of this tremendous oil spill disaster, it seems the same old activities and deals continue …just what Robert Redford talked about in the video .. the behind the scene agendas that all contribute to the current oil spill disaster ~
May the gulf receive our healing energy for cleansing our waters ~
