The Chrysalis ~

In yoga class Sevara’s wise words to a student reminded me of this lesson from nature ~

Here is an article to share from the Om website entitled ~ Mystery of Transformation – The Butterfly Chrysalis ~

In our human lives, we sometimes find ourselves in the chrysalis state. During those times, whether we realize it or not, much of our energy is consumed with an inner transition.

If you see a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, the temptation may be to help it break out. But the physical challenge of this part of the process is necessary for the butterfly to build its strength so that it can survive outside the chrysalis. The same is true of us. Sometimes we have to labor on our own to discover the force we need to be our new selves in the world. Similarly, when seeing friends or family members struggling, it’s easy to become impatient and want to help with their emergence, but we have to learn to let others make their own way. Taking on the challenge of liberating ourselves directly enables us to thrive in our new freedom. Sometimes the greatest supports we can offer others and ourselves are patience and quiet confidence in the process unfolding, along with faith that the result will be extraordinary.

  1. Oh Coralinni!! – this is a great example of the mystery of transformation in nature — the transition from a catipillar to a butterfly ~ :))

this for me brought some very fond memories when i was growing up in grade school — for i remember in my 3rd grade class we had a project, learning the life cycle of a butterfly and its many stages of change…..It was so fascinating and awe-inspiring, I was so captivated by how the little caterpillars we had changed over the course of a month or 2….and turned into “Chrysalises” — We were told by our teacher that the caterpillar was undergoing a grand transformation within….and much of its energy, just like us when we undergo transformations in our own lives…..is used on its growth as it becomes a beautiful butterfly ~ I then got so excited to see the Chrysalises hatching at last and out came these beautiful colorful butterflies…so full of radiance and light —- We then set them free into nature….as i waved goodbye to the butterflies ~ Since then, i’ve always regarded that butterfly as a sacred creature — and everytime i see one during the spring and summer months….I am reminded about change and transformation in our lives — that while sometimes painful….can be a very healing and positive thing for us ~

Thanks for sharing Coralinni!!! — may we each have our own unique transformations within….and bring forth some radiance into this world ~

  2. What a precious memory, Yannaki ! ~ Perhaps we all go through many chrysalises in our lives ~ ~ ~
