Listeria, the company explained, is potentially dangerous to people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and can “cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people ~ In healthy individuals, short-term symptoms may include high fever and severe headache ~
Hummus is easy to make fresh – In place of store bought – here is a recipe that takes 15 ounces of chickpeas/garbanzo beans, Pour into a blender and add 1 cup of Tahini (Sesame Seed Paste), 2 – 3 cloves fresh garlic, 2 Tbsp water, 1/2 tsp Sea Salt, 2 Tbsp lemon juice, 1 – 2 tsp ground cumin, sprinkle of coriander, dash of ground pepper and a few dashes of chipotle chili powder ~ 2 – 3 Tbsp avocado oil or olive oil and BLEND well on high and enjoy with your favorite chips or veggies ~
WOW! – im so glad i saw this one here…THANKS FOR SHARIN CORALINNI!!! –
As anyone would know about me, that my loves are bread and U GUESSED IT, “HUMMUS”!! — a traditional “meze” appetizer that’s very well-known across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, which has also spread into the Western world as a popular spread or dip. It’s one of my favorite meze foods…along with falafel, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, dolmades, (capunata – a special Sicilian appetizer made with eggplant, tomatoes, garlic, olives, peppers and capers…i might include) and tzatziki! [I have quite a bit of favs as u can see]
But it’s freaky to learn about this news – yikes! – If i ever get store-bought hummus, my favorite brand is from Sabra (gotta lovve the basil pesto one) – super smooth and yummy….but I prefer making our very own homemade recipe, which is a little different from the above one but still very delicious!!! – a splash of paprika instead of chipotle powder….and a generous amount of Olive Oil (ya got to!)
And one secret: is to mix the tahini & lemon juice FIRST – then add the olive oil, cumin, salt and garlic one at a time…and save the chickpeas for the last step – last step is to add enough water while adding the chickpeas to achieve a smooth even and consistent texture…(some might also peel off the skin off every chickpea but it’s an extra task that takes a while…) –
Very healthy, simple and DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!! – a complete protein with many health benefits and nutrients – (if i had to be stranded on an island, bread and hummus is my thing!)
