Mind Control?

QUESTION: Can you, or is it possible, to control other’s minds?

ANSWER: The question of can I control one’s mind is really a question of spiritual ethics. Believe me, I’ve struggled with this – can I affect or influence one’s thinking? Putting that question aside, the bigger spiritual lesson is not controlling another’s mind even if one could. It would be a gross infringement on the sovereignty of a being to control that person’s mind, as it would accrue a lot of karma. It would be akin to black magic or voodoo. The world is in its current dilemma due to global karma. There is a big lesson that we must all internalize and that is to not interfere with another person’s will or karma. The best I can do is to inject a higher vibration into the matrix of our existence and hope that other will gravitate towards it. It functions like a lighthouse. The light is available in the darkness but one has the freedom to abide by the light or ignore it. I cannot force anyone to choose. I can only be a lighthouse.

My prayer is the light.

Some may pray. Some can be guided to pray. Others can turn away and choose darkness. Remember, some creatures are empowered by darkness and thrive on those who are not. There are humans like this, that will use the darkness to profit and gain power. But light always prevails. Even now in this time when darkness has descended on the world, I still prevail. They can take my livelihood and my bodily freedom, but I am free. I am free because my soul can never be bound. I am free because I have no attachments. I possess only that which are eternal – my love, my good deeds, and my soul. All else are temporary. Therefore, as those of wisdom have taught over the ages and across all lands, know your self. You are not the body, nor its clothes, it’s occupation, nor its possessions. You are. I am. All is.

In the scheme of this world, I do recognize the suffering of others is an aspect of reality. The pain and sorrow of others is real. So we must help alleviate pain and sorrow if we ourselves are to be compassionate. This was the purpose of Jesus, Buddha, Guru Nanak….Love, kindness, charity, forgiveness, devotional service, and such attributes grow in one’s being more and more as the true self emerges. These are the qualities of an enlightened being but are also within the grasp of all beings if they so choose to walk the path of Dharma.

It’s definitely possible to control another’s mind, but one should never engage in such an act. Wishing ill upon a person can manifest it into reality but you then hold the karma. The more connected one is to the Divine Source the more careful one has to be with one’s thoughts and intentions because the more connected one is the more potent is one’s power of manifestation. Also, karma for one’s actions is much stronger and more immediate so it is important to be impeccable.
