With gratitude to Divine Earth for providing this web site of the heart to share such tremendous life issues with all ~\u00a0I have been deeply\u00a0touched by the insight of Divine Earth\/Johannes\/Sevara on the\u00a0oil spill and see how he inspirers others in\u00a0seeking\u00a0greater awareness on this devastating environmental\u00a0disaster ~\u00a0<\/p>\n

For instance – The discourses\u00a0bring light to\u00a0the importance\u00a0of “long term” awareness in finding solutions in addition to\u00a0the immediate clean up of the gulf ~\u00a0<\/p>\n

One way each of us can\u00a0contribute is with our vote ~\u00a0The public\u00a0needs\u00a0to\u00a0be aware of those\u00a0political leaders that endorse “drill baby, drill” policies\u00a0.. and in the next election bring this awareness with them to the voting booth ~<\/p>\n

If the public continues to allow business as usual and closed-door policies\u00a0..we are still vulnerable to more similar\u00a0disasters in our lifetime ~<\/p>\n

I feel the blessing of\u00a0a much needed\u00a0raising in consciousness of the underlying forces of this disaster through\u00a0this divine site~\u00a0<\/p>\n

As far as the immediate cost of cleaning up the oil spill – I found this\u00a0news article that reflects other news stories I have come across all with\u00a0the same conclusion ~ They say BP’s bottom line is not hurt by\u00a0its projected\u00a0cost of cleaning up the spill ~<\/p>\n

BP’s Profits Far Outweigh The Cost Of Cleaning Up Gulf Oil<\/p>\n

“While the Gulf oil spill has devastated the region, and will have long-term consequences, BP will be able to shake off the costs of the cleanup with little more than a shrug.<\/p>\n

The company’s stock price has taken a hit, and its reputation is in tatters, but the company makes so much money that it is unlikely to suffer much in the long run.<\/p>\n

The cost per day of the oil spill to BP so far has been $16 million. That number is dwarfed by the $66 million per day the firm made in profit in the first quarter of this year. Indeed, in 2009 BP’s total profits were $14 billion.\u00a0Even if the cleanup costs were to rise to $14 billion, it would simply mean that BP went one year without make a profit, let alone losing money.<\/p>\n

It’s difficult to see what incentives there are for BP to operate in a safer and more environmentally conscious manner when the consequences for causing even such a catastrophic crisis as this one are so negligent.<\/p>\n
