This was done in an effort to squeeze out of business puppy mills. People who wish to buy a dog or cat from a pet store can help to alleviate the growing problem of unwanted animals. The City Council pointed out the option of buying directly from a responsible breeder.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/divineearth.org\/main\/files\/2011\/09\/shelterpuppy2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5460\" src=\"http:\/\/divineearth.org\/main\/files\/2011\/09\/shelterpuppy2-300x161.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"http:\/\/divineearth.org\/main\/files\/2011\/09\/shelterpuppy2-300x161.jpg 300w, http:\/\/divineearth.org\/main\/files\/2011\/09\/shelterpuppy2.jpg 487w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<em>&#8220;The goal is to stop animal cruelty,\u201d said Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker. \u201cI think this is a wonderful day in the city of Toronto for anyone who loves cats, dogs, puppies, and wants to ensure animals are treated humanely.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Blessings and thank you Toronto!
