No. Instead we focus our attention on the things we think will bring us happiness. Thus we start chasing dreams instead of facing reality. Reality is ever here-now, not in some distant future and not in some other location. Reality is always within us at the present moment. If you close your eyes and observe even a minute of pure awareness, uncolored by thoughts of the past or future, or fears and phobias, then you will have experienced reality. But even being unaware we come to the realization that life is somehow not exactly what we want it to be. Perhaps you want your relationships to improve or need more money…If we want to get closer to a lasting state of happiness we need to have a strategy. Part one must always include becoming more present, living more in the here-now, accepting and embracing what is. Part two is creating conditions that will lead to a more holistic future, that is, strategies that will bring us good health, good people, a good occupation and income, and a clear mind. This is walking the Dharmic Path, that by living in this moment correctly we create the conditions for the next moment to be benefitted by the goodness we create now. If in each moment we act in accordance with the highest spiritual principals each subsequent moment is built upon this strentgth, and it goes on accumulating onwards and upwards. A class of yoga will super-charge the one and a half hours of your time purifying your consciousness and improving your vitality. Think of the comparison of just sitting at home watching TV or doing yoga. One is allowing opportunities and time to slip away and the other is taking action and investing in your own personal growth.
