Where Did I Come From?

Received this powerful adaptation in an email today I'd like to share. Adapted from Power, Freedom, and Grace by Deepak Chopra.

Where did I come from?

And the answer to that is: I did not come from anywhere, because I was always here. The body comes and goes, but "I" am always here. Where I come from is a place that has no beginning in time and no ending. Where I go is the same place. As we have seen, thre are no particular locations in space or time. In a non-local universe, there is nowhere to go!

And what happens to me when I die?

The answer: Nothing happens, because I do not die. Pure consciousness cannot be destroyed; it can only be expressed. Knowing this frees us from the fear of death because nothing in the universe is ever lost; it is only transformed. If you and I are speaking on the phone, and somebody cuts off the phone lines, what happens to us? Where do we go? Nothing happens to us, and we don't go anywhere. So, too, when physical death occurs, nothing happens to us. Certain lines of communication that use a certain nervous system have temporarily been distrupted. But we are still here. The soul doesn't go anywhere; it's the body that dissolves and returns to the earth.

Then where is the soul?

One of the biggest misconceptions is that the soul resides in the body. People may say, "This person died, and the soul has left," but it's not true. The soulis not inside the body. The soul projects itself as the body and the mind. It finds a location in space-time, and broadcasts or telecasts itself through the body. But just as the characteristics in a movie are not inside my television set when I'm watching it, and Beethoven is not inside my radio when I'm listening to it, my soul is not inside my body. My soul is merely localizing or expressing itself through my body.

Thank you Suncatcher for sharing Deepak's powerful adaptation here ~

When I think about my observations of life and death through family and friends ...it is consistent with Deepak's description to his questions of "Where did I come from? What happens to me when I die? Where is the soul?"

I will share with you a very deeply felt emotion and observation that has repeated itself at the services I have attended for friends and family members that have passed away ~ This may sound like a dark topic but it is in fact a topic of "light" and freedom and comfort ..for what I have observed is at these services...when we are to say our last goodbye to the dearly departed lying before us ...every time I see and feel that the person I knew is no longer present in the room ...even though I see him/her before me ...because the soul is no longer projecting itself through the body of the dearly departed ~

The discovery that the soul does not die is the awakening which brings comfort, peace and joy back into our hearts ~ and where one journey ends ..the light of renewal and birth appears ...and a new journey begins ~

A beautiful way to reflect the journey of the soul Coralina and I share your deeply felt emotion and observation for services I have attended for friends and family members that have passed away as well.

Namaste!

Deepak Chopra

Hiya Suncatcher,
Thanks for sharing Adapted from Power, Freedom, and Grace by Deepak Chopra. He is one of my favorite writers.

I have been reminded frequently how fragile life is and how brief our time together is. It has helped me to be more aware that all time spent with loved ones, friends and even acquaintances is special and meaningful, that 'this moment' is what I have and I am grateful.

Our precious Spirit does not change, though the manifestation of form and body returns, like a golden thread, our connection and Grace remains.
