Why nature is so important
Submitted by Sevara on Mon, 10/01/2007 - 11:42.
In this modern world we find that we have so many distractions in our lives, so many things to keep us occupied and distracted. Things like computers, television, video games, DVDs tend to eat away at our down time, while the other necessities of survival like work, laundry, and raising a family take up the rest.
Everyday when we step out of our front door we see the same things: buildings, roads, parking lots, factories, shopping malls. All these man made structures fill the urban landscape with the odd tree here and there. But even the trees are not quite "natural" - they grow in impossibly straight rows of uniform stock, showing that they are not the product of Mother Nature but of a landscaper's design.
It's so hard to get a taste of nature in a world that day to day is loosing more and more of its green space. But that time in nature is so essential to humans. For it is of the soil that we come; our very roots are of the earth. We are just like every tree, every flower; through womb of the fertile earth, nurtured by the sun, we have risen from the same ground, drink the same water and breathe the same air.
Spending time in nature, sitting upon the living soil beneath an ancient tree, breathing in the air that the forest so generously purified for us, reminds us of this connection. And this connection is so healing. There is vibrant and vital energy in the yin of the earth, amongst the trees, breathing in pure air along with the yang energy of the sun shining upon us. Meditate and absorb this qi and experience your essence.
Every tree, every flower, every aspect of nature is a part of who we are and should be loved and respected as different but equal. Remember that we are each a unique signature of the 5 Elements, as organic as the trees and flowers. We are all beloved offspring of this Divine Earth.

Nature
Yes, nature is the best healer of all. to lean against an big old tree is like leaning against someone whose heart is full of love.
to sit on the shoulders of mother earth and allow the sun to kiss my face is like receiving a hug from a loving friend and being told that I'll be ok.
when I walk through the woods and listen to the wind speak through the trees I hear divine symphonies.
with Peace and Light to all who read this.
forget not ~ I am a child of mother earth

"There is a desire deep within the soul which drives man from the seen to the unseen, to philosophy and to the divine."
Kahlil Gibran
Nature
What beautiful words Sevara. I know that nature is a very important part of my souland that I need replenish each day. I always take the path that will take me past the most trees and flowers. There spirits are delightful. The flowers gently swaying in the wind with there happy little faces. The trees strong and tall holding the wisdom of many who sat below it to shade themselves on a hot summer’s day.
This weekend I was driving along the country road just breathing in the fresh clean air. Letting the vibrancy of the abundant fall colors fill my soul with delight. The fields were full with wildly colored squashes and pumpkins all just waiting for someone to take them home to love. I find sitting upon the earth to be a very grounding experience to feel the cool earth below me lets me feel my connection with nature. I let my soul drink the energy of nature every chance I get as I know the power of its healing love. Thank you for this reminder dear Sevara.
Connecting with nature and Earth
Just a few thoughts after reading Sevara's words:
Breath in the Silence of the forest, the humming of the birds, the rustling of leaves being kissed by the sun and swayed by the gentle breeze… capture the essence of the Earth’s voice in the song of nature… the rhythm of the ocean’s tide… the cries of a baby and the smile of a stranger …listen to the heartbeat of the Earth in every living creature … learn from the passing time in the abyss of the great unknown …
