The Fountain
I have watched the movie recently, and I am not going to give any spoilers here, for those who might be interested to see it. Just a few thoughts on it though: the eternal quest of finding a cure for a disease, and the quest of human kind to find immortality, are so beautifully captured in this movie, that follows the story thru 3 different periods of time. It is after all a fictional story, so you might find that the writers have created some places too fictional for some, but it still captures the idea of how humanity sometimes fight it’s own mortal condition, trying to find a cure: “Death is a disease. There is a cure, and I will find it.”
I think you would enjoy it from the perspective of some idea that we have discussed here on DEO about life, and the human condition. "Death is the road to awe." (quotes from the movie)
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz

Fountain
I saw that movie last weekend. I thought that the graphics were great. I think they will find a cure for cancer as many drugs have been developed that will shrink a tumor however the side affects are to great! It just takes time.

I thought the graphics were good too, but i liked it more for its message. All the struggle to save a loved one, how to deal with their loss, the spiritual implication of the character's journey. These are also the subjects that this community touched on so well over the past week on Coralina's blog "living joyfull for the rest of your days".
And on a more light note Hugh Jackman is a good actor ... plus good looking ;) Rachel Weiz is awesome too... she played so well, but then she got the experience from one of her other movies "The Constant Gardner"; another good movie.
yes
It made me cry to see how beautiful and true there love was. Hugh was such a beautiful person to try to create a cure for cancer to save his wife. He loved her so much. It seemed as it is many times that the person with the cancer or disease is almost stronger than the loved ones that are around them. No one wants to lose a loved one but if the suffering is too great then it is time for them to rest. Rachel was such a beautiful person in this film also as she seems to know what was important in life now that it was ending. I liked the intertwined stories of there life and the book Rachel was writing. I liked the fact that Rachel had left the last chapter for Hugh to write with the confidence that he could do it. This would be an excellent healing for him to remember her and finish the story. Rachel seemed to know were she was going and she was at peace with that. This was a great movie and something worth watching. I will have to try to check out “the Constant Gardner” in the near future.
I heard about it
I heard about this movie just last week and I'm very excited to see it. There was one particular scene that was described to me (I wont share it here, but it involved a tree) that sounded so beautiful. Can't wait to watch it!
