Production vs. Conservation Dispute ~
Da production vs. conservation dispute ~ "Have We Learned Anything Yet??"
Yo!! - just stumbled on this rather upsettin' article a while ago's - discussin' about our current energy crisis -- and what should be da best solution to correct da problem?? ~ http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/business/20080701-1351-energypoll.html
Recently, a poll was conducted, surveyin' da views of American's position in our current oil price dilemma ---- and their ideas on what should be done to find a solution to our problem ~ Da results were quite shocking (n' disturbin' as well!!) :o :o :o
Results showed -- nealy half of the ones who were surveyed -- 47% -- now see further energy exploration n' support for more oil drilling (includin' offshore) as a high priority in today's times --- While conservation of da environment is much lower than 5 months ago --- (WHAT DA FREAKIN' HECK!!!! ):-O
It seems that given our high rising oil prices and weakening economy --- It is also beginning to affect us in many levels.....not just in our pockets.....but our minds as well -- Have We Learned Anything Yet??? ~ Just within the past years......we have seen the destructive effects of fossil fuels and pollution released into our environment from rampant wastefulness of resources -- Continuously relying on "petrol" as our primary energy source......increasing da rate of Global Warming --- which affects our ecosystems, natural habitats, our climatic patterns.....and ALL OF THAT! -- DIRECTLY IMPACTS US ALL --
DIGGING FOR MORE OIL (ONSHORE AND OFFSHORE) IS NOT THE ANSWER!! - OPENING NEW ENERGY PLANTS IS NOT DA ANSWER!! -- such a solution is only a short-term temporary fix.....IT WILL NOT....solve our current energy problems we face in da long-run -- We live in new times....a new century.....with new issues to be faced in a whole new perspective -- We must eventually move forward in a totally new direction.....changing our OLD WAYS OF THINKING - that once worked in the Pre-Industrial times --- (Which are OBSOLETE) --- and shift to newer more innovative means of handling our energy concerns......
By opting to dig for MORE OIL -- Build New Power Plants -- Is quite a foolish decision on our part......for we would simply be retrograding back to older times.......De-evolutionizing into earlier patterns of thought that ONCE WORKED ~ not solving a darn thing! ~ In other words.....it would be...."SHOOTING ONESELF ON BOTH FEET...OVER AND OVER AGAIN" -- It makes no sense!
5 or so months ago -- NOT EVEN A YEAR -- there was wide sentiment of -- "SAVING THE RAINFORESTS" -- CONSERVE ENERGY -- RECYCLE -- TAKE CARE OF THE PLANET" ~ as many programs and festivals were planned for awareness of the cause....HECK!! EVEN A WHOLE WORLD-WIDE CONCERT!! ~ "Live Earth 2007" ~ was arranged last year.....bringin' together some of the most prominent bands n' artists on-stage -- famous faces....in unity around da world.....All organized n' fronted by none other than AL GORE ----- using pure renewable energy.....encouraging recycling at EVERY WORLD VENUE ~ promoting through the POWER OF MUSIC ~ "our vital need and importance to preserve our planet" ~
IT WAS A SUCCESS!!! -- Drawing millions of people -- All of a sudden "GREEN WAS IN" --- Everyone was a treehugger just like that! ~ Everyone was talkin' about going green....becoming eco-friendly.....Plantin' Trees....Kissin' animals......All dat great stuff ~ THINGS WERE GREAT!
And now......we have this HUGE energy crisis glarin' at us right in da face -- Our economies are dwindling......Our gas n' oil prices cost more than a freakin' Plasma Skreen!! ~ and many are sufferin' in all income brackets n' social classes.....It is causin' many financial hardships left and right as many cant even afford to pay their monthly bills.....and other expenses ~
What Do People Say Now?????
DIG MORE OIL! - BUILD MORE POWER PLANTS! FORGET DA ENVIRONMENT! - BLAH! BLAH! BLAH!
Umm....yeah.....what happened to da "Going Green" now??? ---- Is that da best we can do????
We have to realize.....this is a serious issue dat needs careful decision makin' -- We must think of da consequences n' what's at stake -- Shall we decide to continue on da old dirt path.....our past ways of thinking......It would NOT be worth it ~
In such a relatively short period.....we have seen da future spring to life right before our very eyes.....such great technological advances have emerged within da last few decades -- Much dat would make even Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, Nikola Tesla, Da Vinci, and many more legendary explorers n' scientists go.....HOLY SCHMOLEEZ!!!!!! :O
All the greatest technologies.........
.........And we can't solve our energy problem in a more efficient way????? ---- We can't develop clean-efficient vehicles that run on water? -- Or develop enough Megawatts out of Wind Enegy, or algae production??????? ~
Much research must be done -- There are better ways to solve our problems......MORE OIL - IS NOT ONE OF THEM ~

finding the right solutions
I read the article from your link Yannaki and it is very disturbing and disheartening to see the public view shifting to more oil drilling as the solution to our rising gas prices - There are so many political deals and oil companies driven by greed and profit ...and other factors that are affecting our oil prices - But the public who is hurting from the high gas prices are vulnerable - and this vulnerability is being taken advanced by politicians who wish to push their agenda to drill for more oil no matter where as the answer!
The article shows the polls say there is an increase of public's willingness to drill even in our wildlife refuges such as in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or even offshore drilling - which effects me deeply and sends nightmare images through my being of what our ocean coastline will look like if these policies are approved ...
The crisis does seem overwhelming and as Divine Earth pointed out in his important blog - even the Iraq war was and is about oil ~ Recently I have seen more and more stories about the Iraq war's hidden agenda to oil !!
People should not be made to feel so desperate for solutions and not be overwhelmed by the global picture to the point they forget there are many little things that can be done in our daily lives to help ~ For example I know many people that live long distances from their jobs. Their commute not only takes a big bite out of their paycheck but also adds to the heavy traffic on our roads ..and think about our air quality ~ Prayers for our future to find the right solutions to our oil crisis and at the same time keep Mother Earth beautiful and care and protect her ~ Blessings to all~
