To know oneself is to observe what one thinks, how one feels, not just superficially, but to be deeply aware of what is without condemnation, without judgment, without evaluation or comparison. Try it and you will see how extraordinarily difficult it is for a mind that has been trained for centuries to compare, to condemn, to judge, to evaluate, to stop that whole process and simply to observe what is; but unless this takes place, not only at the superficial level, but right through the whole content of consciousness, there can be no delving into the profundity of the mind."
Thank you for sharing Anoushka's music! what divine talent she has! i was reading the post on myspace today about her world tour. she has toured US during the last months or so, now she is in Europe. I wanted to make it to her OR concert but it was on a wednesday in April, and i would've had to take off work. I sincerely hope she will be back to do another tour here in US. i really enjoyed this video ...now i am off to see some more :)
Hi Chica! ~ I'm happy to share Anoushka's video with you - I think this one displays her talent well ~ I know how you love Indian artists and music ... I have also checked on Anoushka's schedule now and then and I have been foolish in the past to pass up opportunities to see her perform right here where I live ~ Hopefully we will both have a chance to see her in concert when she begins her next U.S. tours! ~
Awesome display of virtuosity!! - Anoushka is definitely the modern-day princess of Sitar -- taught by her very own pappa - da legendary Ravi Shankar -- Thnx for sharin' w/ us Coralinni!!!
One has to admire da amount of talent Anoushka has -- for da very art sitar-playin' is beauty in itself --- a very difficult instrument to play well - with its unique usage of techniques such as da "Meend" (bendin' of strings) --- and wide fret intervals -- takes many years of devoted practice to hone those skills......to play w/ such masterfulness and accuracy is a sight to see ~
Also one also has to admire da intricacies and mystique of traditional classical Indian music --with its many kinds of "raga" -- unique forms of rhythmic & melodic patterns --- similar to da mid-eastern & byzantine-style "maqam" and of course....da andalusian 12-beat "compas" in flamenco...which is derived from da "raga" (da gypsies were originally from Northwestern India, Rajasthan & Punjab regions) --
It takes an acquired ear, but there is quite a magical beauty in classical Indian styles --- each song an epic story on its own ~ (now if only i could see some sarod n' bansuri in action....hmmmm....)
A master in her own right ~ I admire Anoushka's artistry, grace and beauty - My pleasure to share this video with you Yannaki! ~
Oh but thanks for all the great musical insight - Your musical knowledge always amazes me- Johannes and other musical souls know these many forms of raga that you speak of but to me - this is all new and fascinating musical background! ~
beautiful sounds
