The number one movie right now is Iron Man ~ I was thinking I might go see it but I like to preview the story before deciding if it will be of interest to me - not just based on the fact it is number one ~ What I have heard about the story line does intrigue me ~
I know that the character of Iron Man comes from the comic book character - although I have read the movie brings his character to life in a more realistic light and apparently slightly changes the story line from the original comic book version ~
Iron Man is a rich philanthropist named Tony Stark ..He is also a brilliant inventor and invents an indestructible iron man suit to fight evil forces ~
But the part of the movie plot that intrigued me was he once used his intelligence to create weapons of destruction for worldly war games ...but finds the strength to break away from the destructive war powers and turns against the evil war conspiracies, with the aid of his iron man suit of armor, fighting against the dark forces that conspire to rule the world ~

I enjoyed it
I thought the movie was fun and I actually saw it twice. It was typical Hollywood, with good triumphing over evil, but nonetheless it's always inspiring to see someone (the main character) turn from a life mundane pleasures to a life of serving humanity. This is why I like Superman (especially Superman Returns which I watched again recently) because he served humanity right from the outset.

It's wonderful to hear your thoughts on the movie, dear Sevara! ~ Yes I too saw the elements of the typical Hollywood formula in the movie but like you - I found the movie fun and had some funny lines in the movie ... and at least if it is going to appeal to a large mass audience - it did have an important underlying message of the selling of war weapons an evil business and a large part of the corruption in our world ~ I also like the way they curbed the violence to a certain extend and great special effects ~
Superman Returns
Also ~ I forgot to mention that I liked the ending of Superman Returns .. Getting into the realm of our journeys to another existence or possibly the question of a resurrection!
On a scale of 5 I give it 4 1/2 stars
I saw Iron Man today and have mixed feelings about it - On one hand it was a powerful movie and well casted ... but also saw some flaws ~ I don't want to give away anything about the plot for those who want to see it only to say the movie is more about an inside corporate power struggle in the second half than fighting iluminati types (yes Yannaki I thought it was going to be more along those lines) but the movie still makes a very strong and important point about Whose Hands these weapons of mass destruction are sold to or eventually wind up with and the dark and total misery they cause ~

For me, da main message of neutralizin' da evil dark forces dat threaten humanity is da most important, for da constant struggle happen in da real-world today ---- Me must realize, we are in a dangerously delicate time in da human timeline -- where each action and decision we make creates an significant outcome - good or bad - We can either use our gifts and intelligence wisely, and the vast array of tools we have at our disposal...to create a better, more peaceful-like world....or use that same intelligence and tools towards self-destruction and total annihilation of civilization ---- da choice is all ours to make ~

strange day at the movies
Yannaki .. Iron Man has great special effects and does show the realities of suffering as the result of the war games that go on in our world for greed and profit -
In the first half of the movie I felt the serious issue of war created a tense situation in the movie theater and a man yelled at some people sitting in the back row of the theater who were talking and told them to "shut up!!! I'm watching the movie!!"
Then another strange thing that happened was the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacute the building - We came back inside a few minutes later and took our seats but then again told to evacuate ...so then asked for a refund and given a free pass ...came back two hours later and saw the second half of the movie! What a bizarre day at the movies! ~

Oh my gosh, any credits given for this movie should be given to you and the rest of the movie goers ,lol, ... fire alarms, evacuations, people yelling over the movie, another line up for your refund, ...too much excitement for me. As you say, the tension already in the air maybe with it being Memorial Day weekend in the States, (Victoria Day in Canada), the weather, AND the effects of a full moon has a lot to do with the elevated moods, as well seemingly perfect timing to market such a movie.
These movies, categorized as “hero” movies imply that we’re living in a society that needs to be saved from greedy corporate mongrels and at the same time they open our eyes to our inner potential, our inner hero. Still, it doesn’t do any good to fight violence with more violence. Even playing the martyr, if your heart is full of revenge, only fuels the fire.
I wish there were more movies that remind us that our outer armor is our inner armor. If a person in God-consciousness turns the other cheek, his enemy is disarmed because there isn’t any ‘like’ energy to plug into. Of course then all movies like this would fit into the documentary category which some people might consider …. a little boring.
I’m not sure yet if I’ll go out to see this movie, there are advantages to waiting… I can sit in the comfort of my own home, big bowl of pop corn, re-mote in hand… if it’s not what I’m in the mood for, there’s always that off button.
mixed feelings about the movie
It was a strange chain of events to see Iron Man indeed ~ The overall theme of the movie of anti-weapons market in our dangerous war-minded world made the movie worth seeing for me - the minus half a point in my rating of the movie was because of the violence fighting violence ... The movie and characters did have flaws but I thought it would be nice to post a little something in the forum since it has been a bit quiet here lately ~

Real-world similarities ~
OOOH!!! -- i thought u were talkin' about da song!!! -- (doin' da "SIGN"! -- "DAAH!! DAAAH! DA! DA! DA!" -- LOL!
AH! - but yepz, me's heard of da new movie "Iron-Man" out right now's!! --- seen it all over da net in trailers -- seems interestin'!! ~ Based on a comic character, remodeled and modernized for da hit-movie ~ INTERESTIN' INFO ON IT CORALINNI!!!!!
But also, one may overlook da fact dat da plot of da movie relates to real-world issues --- includin' how people and corporations become corrupt and unstable -- doin' all for money ~ and causin' destruction within society and threatenin' our very civilization ~ but it takes one individual, to see the ugly reality --- and turn around da other way --- to use their gifts to change da world and make things right ~ No longer for destruction, but for good ~
I pray dat we all find our gift within --- to bring a little light into our world --- and reverse da effects of da dark forces at work today.......This current age is a very fragile and dangerous one --- For one major error, one major wrong decision -- will lead to our demise ~
